Once upon a time, in a serene and beautiful lake, there lived three fish. They were good friends but very different in their nature. The first fish was wise and always thought ahead. The second fish was clever and quick to think on his feet. The third fish was carefree and often foolish, living only in the moment without worrying about the future.
One day, the wise fish overheard a group of fishermen talking near the shore. “This lake is full of fish,” one of them said. “We’ll come back tomorrow morning with our nets and catch as many as we can.”
The wise fish was alarmed. He quickly swam to his friends and said, “I just overheard the fishermen. They’re planning to come tomorrow to catch fish in this lake. We must act now and leave this place to find safety in another lake.”
The clever fish immediately agreed. “You’re right. It’s dangerous to stay here. I’ll leave with you tonight before the fishermen arrive.”
But the foolish fish laughed. “Why should we leave? This lake has been our home forever! I’m not afraid of some fishermen. I can outsmart their nets if they come near me,” he said confidently.
The wise fish tried to convince him. “It’s not about bravery. The fishermen’s nets are wide and strong, and once they catch you, there’s no escape. Please, come with us!”
But the foolish fish was stubborn. “I’m staying here. You two are just being scared for no reason.”
That night, the wise fish and the clever fish swam out of the lake and found a safe home in a nearby stream.
The next morning, the fishermen arrived as planned. They cast their nets into the lake and began pulling out fish. The foolish fish tried to swim away, but no matter how fast he was, the nets were faster. He was caught along with many other fish. The fishermen took him away, and he was never seen again.
The wise fish and the clever fish, safe in their new home, mourned the loss of their friend. They learned an important lesson: wisdom and preparation are the keys to survival, while carelessness and overconfidence can lead to trouble.
